The National Museum of Bermuda offers 4 week and 8 week paid and unpaid summer internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and recent graduates from any college or university. The intern will be an integral part of the Curatorial team, assisting with collection management projects, conservation, research, and exhibit work. Limited spaces available.

Position Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate student interested in archaeology, history, museum studies, or a related field 
  • Ability to commit 8 hours minimum a week with a maximum 35 hours a week (Mon-Friday, 9am – 5pm)
  • Basic knowledge of, and experience with, current practices and innovations in museum collections management is preferred
  • Computer proficiency, preferably with Mac devices and experience with collection management databases
  • Dedicated team player with strong leadership skills and independent, positive attitude
  • Previous knowledge or understanding of Bermuda history is preferred but not necessary

Essential Job Functions 

  • Maintain and enhance object records and files, including reconciling disparities between paper and digital files
  • Assisting with updating NMB’s research and objects databases
  • Assist in the inventory, documentation, and rehousing of NMB’s collections
  • Photographing objects in collection
  • Archival research
  • Assisting with exhibit maintenance
  • Assisting with conservation projects
  • Undertakes other assignments as designated by the Curator
