On October 5th 2025 St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church hosted their annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service celebrating local farmers, island produce, plants, and community heritage. The festive autumn tradition featured local agricultural displays, guest speakers from the farming community, baked goods, and a cultural performance from the Warwick Gombeys.
Parishioners of St Mary’s Church in Warwick celebrated a traditional harvest service in the wake of hurricanes Humberto and Imelda. Parishioners went into the church hall after the service where refreshments were served and people were able to take away a curated jar of homemade soup bean soup mix in a beautiful mason jar.
Carlos Amaral, chairman of the Bermuda Farmers’ Association, was the guest speaker at the special service to recognise the importance of our farmers.
Mr Amaral said, “As farmers in Bermuda, we ride a roller coaster of emotions, from the satisfaction of seeing our hard work pay off and the anguish of seeing months and even years of hard work wiped out in a few hours with the passing of a powerful hurricane,”
He stressed that farming is more than a job for local farmers. It’s a lifestyle.
The service was enjoyed by all.
