Daniel Michelmore was baptised at St. Mary’s on the Feast of Pentecost, 30 May 2004 when he was 4 months old.

Baptisms at St. Mary’s were often incorporated into the regular Sunday morning service, and Father Andrew Doughty always involved the children from the congregation, who were invited to join Daniel and his parents and Godparents at the back of the church by the baptismal font.  This really emphasised the feeling of the new baby being welcomed into his church family.

We loved the way that Father Andrew made each baptism special for the family involved.  For Daniel, Father Andrew had researched Daniel’s middle name, “Hadrian”.  We picked this name because of our connection to Northumberland in the UK, where “Hadrian’s Wall” was a familiar landmark and a favourite place for us to visit.  Amazingly Daniel was born on the same day as Emperor Hadrian (76 CE)!
