We were married at St. Mary’s on a Saturday, 24 August 1996. Both of us had traveled back from England where we were living and working at the time. Lots of family and friends traveled for the occasion too, from the UK, the US, and as far away as South Africa. Rod’s family enjoyed getting to explore the island and to meet so many of Kathy’s relatives. The date was extra special because Kathy’s parents had been married on 24th August in 1968 at Emmanuel Parrish Church in Loughborough, England.
What we remember most about our wedding ceremony is that Rev. Andrew Doughty had encouraged us to memorize our wedding vows, and so we made our promises to one another without Father Andrew reading out each line……it was very stressful, but also very special. We remember those vows by heart to this day.
