Laura, Amice and Lillian were the three daughters of Joseph and Lillian Simons. These photos show them as young adult women posing for a formal portrait with their father in the family homestead, and then in their fashionable dresses with St. Mary’s in the background and the third shows them as senior citizens outside the church hall. Throughout their lives these sisters were a trio, celebrating weddings, births, the accomplishments of children, nephews and nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the matriarchs, the holders of the family history, the scrabble experts, and excellent bakers of gingerbread and sugar cookies. They were faithful members of St.Mary’s Church and so many of our family photographs depict them on the Church grounds. Their examples guided so many members of their families to maintain a connection to St. Mary’s, and I believe that we still feel their presence when we gather at St.Mary’s together.
