Many people in Bermuda have never seen a seahorse as they are very clever at camouflaging to their environment. I was lucky enough to photograph this pretty Longsnout before it changed color. “Reaching For The Moon” It’s important to always have a camera with you. When walking late at night I came across this one of a kind building that most would drive by leaving it unnoticed. I came back three more times during the full moon to capture the perfect photo. The structure was a pumping station built in the 1840s out of Bermuda limestone. I took this photo of a crab spider at the nature reserve at Ferry Reach while walking my dog. A common species found in Bermuda, its proper name is a Gasteracantha or a spiny-backed orb-weaver. I love them for two reasons. Firstly, if you get up close, the markings on their back look like a spooky Halloween face. Secondly, they often weave their webs overnight at around head height. If you are the first to walk down a pathway in the morning and are not paying attention, your face quickly becomes entangled in their web. My Dad is usually out front!

When people say Bermuda, most think of the beaches, the pink sand, the Gombeys, the teals and the pinks, an island seen as paradise. We need to remember the calmer greens the lest vibrant Bermuda which still gives comfort to a lot of people. I chose this photo because Bermuda isn’t just some paradise which can be overly colored but if you find the right spots in nature it can be more toned down and relaxed. I think this represents nature very well because you can see the side of nature that most don’t think about when it comes to Bermuda. No palm trees, No beaches just calm.
