I chose this photo because it is very significant to me. After all, it is a part of our heritage and I also go to church every Sunday, so this is meaningful to me. This represents the theme of the Bermuda Buildings because it is the longest-lasting Anglican church in the British Isles.
I liked that the bird was flying away and you could see its wings. Also, the Kiskadee a typical Bermudian bird, looks very striking.
“My Sister,My Inspiration” This picture is taken of my sister who is a free lance photographer. On this day, she trusted me with her camera, and I was able to capture her vision in only a few takes. She inspires me to always pursue my passions and to never give up. Her and my brother have a saying to always “be the greatest “. This saying has a special place in my heart, because I know that in everything I do, I have to try and give my greatest attempt.
I chose this photo because the old airport shows the heritage of Bermuda and the old ways of transportation in Bermuda and the architecture a long time ago without a runway and the ocean instead. this represents the category because the old airport has the look of a Bermuda building.
I chose this photo because Bermuda wildlife makes me think of the lizard that always sits on the shutter of our living room window. We see it every day and it seems to love its shutter 'habitat'. Even though this lizard is considered part of Bermuda's wildlife, it feels like another pet because it lives at our house.
“Fun in the sun” I chose to capture this moment of my sister at the beach because it shows how blessed we are to be born on this beautiful island. From the pink sand, to the beautiful crystal clear waters we are truly blessed. The happiness this island brings to all of us is captured on her face. This is the people of Bermuda.
“MULTIPLE ARCHED WINDOWS” I chose this photo because the eroded building has been standing since 1874. We had such bad storms and hurricanes and it’s still standing, thats pretty cool.
I found a Golden Silk spider in Paget parish, whose strong but delicate web I feel represents who we are as Bermudians. We live on a tiny island in the Atlantic Ocean. Every day we show our strength but we also show our softer side, just like the spider's web.
I selected this image because it shows Bermudians playing dominoes while grinning. This indicates to me that you can be cheery and have an enjoyable experience doing what you love to do without toxicity, demonstrating the true culture of Bermuda. This represented the theme perfectly.
“ Teachers Retreat “ Teachers have a difficult job, they study hard for a degree, work late marking books, constructing lesson plans. You need to be a counselor, peacemaker and psychologist with lots of patience. This is my mom, and she says everyone deserves great education, and every lesson shapes a life. Teachers need serenity, and here it is.
I chose this photo because it reminds us of the underground and how significate caves are in Bermuda even though it it over-looked. It shows how Bermuda has wonderful sights above and below the ground.
That day I was sitting in the car and the clouds were amazing. The splash of colour of the buildings... I opened my window and felt inspired to capture the light and darkness contrast.
This flower is commonly found here Bermuda. When I was searching for a flower this flower stood out. The many shades of pink and how healthy and lush it looked made it stand out.The hibiscus is a national symbol of Bermuda.

‘The gate over the moon’ I chose this photo as it captures an iconic scene of Bermuda.Moon gates are a sign of good luck if you step through them, so who knows it might be worth a try.
I chose this photo as I believe that the heron represents patience and willingness which relates back to photography as you have to wait hours to get the perfect shot just as how the heron waits all day for the perfect fish. I believe that the photo relates to me as I feel that a heron is very hard working which I feel I am too. I think it represent the theme as the heron is a very common bird to see in Bermudas nature.
I love loud colors of the turbulent sky yet the calm of the homes below with the warmth of their evening lights. I stand and wonder what is happening in each home and hope it’s a place of calm and love like I believe the photo shows.
I took this picture on Ordnance Island in St. Georges. It inspired me because the clouds were opening up to give way to the sun and its calming heat. I can tell you that it was cold that day! It reminded me of a movie because the light was practically piercing through the ginormous palm tree and giving it life. We are very lucky to live in Bermuda because beauty is everywhere.
I chose this picture because I like the interaction of the people who were visiting St. George’s Square. They appeared to be relaxed, happy and comfortable in the Town. I know that I enjoy going to St. George’s for the food, beaches and hanging out with my friends and family.
Every morning my family and I are fortunate to wake up to this amazing view. We never know what boats or ships we will see from our windows. It feels like they are literally in our backyard! I can see cruise ships, ferries, cargo ships, huge yachts with helicopters, The Spirit of Bermuda and the Endeavor boats with their pink sails. I can always find a reason to smile from my point of view.

Bermuda Sunsets: I took these photos on 18th October, 2023. They are of the last part of the late summer sunset from Berkeley Road/St. John’s Road. I really love these pictures because it shows how beautiful the Bermudian sky can be and how lucky we are to live here. It fits the theme of Nature & Wildlife because the sky is, in my opinion, one of the prettiest aspects of the island’s beauty.
I chose this plant because it is special to me. This plant is like a trophy to our class! I think it matches with nature because soon it will go into the ground and will bear fruits. Mangos are the best!

Mr. Barnes used to go to my church all the time when I was little, My best friend told me that he used to bring her oranges, My parents told me he used to greet us with a handshake after every church service. By my description of Mr. Barnes, from my Bestie and parents, he was a nice man.

Victoria Park is a place where lots of people go to eat lunch, play with their children, and enjoy desserts from Leslie's. It means a lot to me because it is where I spent a lot of time as a kid playing on the grassy fields.

“School’s Out, They’re In” This picture was taken over summer break while walking to lunch at 1609. While walking it got me thinking, this school of fish reminds me of something. It reminds me of how we should stick together just like fish, with the people we love. It is always important to have somebody by your side to stick with you through it all.
“Bermuda Blues” Behind these walls was once a beautiful home, with a perfect view of the water. Even though these houses are abandoned it makes me wonder how something with such a beautiful backdrop could be left to be ruined. The wonderful blue colors of the ocean and sky that fills people with joy, was once, and still is beautiful to this day.
I chose this photo because the sunrise has its own beauty. I took this photo first thing in the morning at Elbow Beach. The sun's glow radiates through clouds and shines on the water, as the waves crash onto the beach. Nature has its own way of saying good morning.

This photo shows flamingos at the Bermuda Aquarium/Zoo. This was an easy choice for me as I love flamingos. They are beautiful birds and I have loved visiting them over the years. These flamingos have managed to thrive and breed in as natural a habitat as we can provide.

This photo was taken of me at Church Bay Beach in Southampton which is not a beach I go to often, but is one of my favourite places in Bermuda. In 1931 the railway company gave the privilege of a stop on property’s for allowing rails over their land. These remains of “Minnie’s Hunts Halt” are near Lantana. I love the stonework and the moon beams on the past.

Rainbow Gombey Troupe Bermuda Gombey's are the guardians of a rich culture. With their dazzling costumes and rhythmic movements, they enact their story to the drumbeat and the squeal of the whistle. The Gombey troupes are like a rainbow of joy and pride, enchanting spectators wherever they go.
This is a photo of a Bermuda sunset hitting the camera and the clouds at the perfect time of day. There is a beam of light that separates the building on the left from the trees on the right.The clouds are orange from the setting sun. The building is a traditional Bermuda house that could be anywhere in Bermuda because they all have the same white roofs and tall chimneys which is why I chose it. There is ocean in the background and the sun is hitting it making a path for the sunlight to follow to the sea. To me, the beam of sunlight that hits the bottom of the photo is a leading line which leads your eye to the homes, and provides me with a sense of security and peace as I think of my own island home.

This is a picture of a Bermuda sunset in my neighbourhood. I chose this photo for Bermuda nature as it represents my favourite time of day. It shows the most beautiful colours such as pink clouds, green trees and blue sky. The palm tree is showing on the left slide which complements the setting sun. At the bottom of the photo is a historic canon which is a symbol of Bermuda's past as a strategic defence post. It is historic nature but the sun sets everyday.
Rainbow Reptile I love seeing all of the lizards around Bermuda but they are often quick to scurry away! This lizard however, is showing off it's beautiful rainbow colours, intricate patterns, and it's strength whilst basking in the Bermudaful sunshine.
Luminous Labyrinth Tunnels of hidden history lie beneath the grounds of Fort Hamilton. I love how the shades of green glow in what looks like a never-ending passageway. This is a great place to explore - just don't get lost!
The Bermuda Hibiscus is one of Bermuda’s many flowers. I chose this picture because I love this type of flower. This type of flower can be found almost anywhere. White, red, yellow, and pink I think these flowers are beautiful. This flower is important to me because I remember picking them out for my mom when I was younger. It represents my theme because I always see them as I walk or ride my bike in the tracks.

“FLY HIGH” On clear sunny days, even at the slightest wind, kite surfers are almost always out harnessing the winds in their sails. This is a great way that the Bermudian people engage on the water and in sports.
“I SEE YOU” I chose this photo of a Queen Conch because it is one of the endangered sea species in Bermuda and it has been protected 1978 but the population hasn’t been increasing.
This is a tunnel at Fort Hamilton in Pembroke Parish. I submitted this photo because when I walked through it, it reminded me of the saying that there is light at the end of the tunnel. As teenagers, we experience many challenges in life and this was a reminder to me that if we have faith we can overcome all of our challenges. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
I chose this photo because not many people have see a seahorse in Bermuda so i think that they are very interesting and special to see in the wild. I think it represents the theme because seahorses are one of the most interesting creatures i have ever seen and that more people should know about them.
The Magic Castle is a pink house up on a hill in Pembroke. It reminds me of the entrance to Disney World. Whenever I see it I feel like I'm in Disney World but then I remember I'm Home Sweet Home on the magical island of Bermuda.

After school I noticed two high schoolers and I asked to take a picture of them. The way they carried themselves inspired me to do well in my studies so I can be a part of high school soon. This photo was taken at the City Hall car park when I went to see the movie Minions. I was told from my Aunt that Bermudian architecture has really evolved over the years. Even though some of the buildings are old and small they are useful. The new buildings are usually larger, and can accommodate more.
I chose this building because it has a movie theater. I like movie theaters but Speciality Cinema was my favorite. It served lunch or dinner during the movie and you could also get a milkshake or a hurricane. Also this is the only multi theater cinema in Bermuda.

I chose this photo as it represents Bermuda buildings and how buildings were built a couple of hundred years ago and how the tradition of building homes back then has somewhat stayed the same today. Looking at these stairs leading up to the house I wonder about all those people who walked up those stairs in years gone by. There would of been some school children going to learn needlework and reading and then I think about the free black couple who bought it in 1831 and made their family home their even before the abolition of slavery.

I chose this photo because of all the happy memories I have playing in the park with my friends. It represents the beauty of taking the time to relax, enjoy yourself and connecting with nature.
I took this photo at Cooper's Island. I love flowers and I have a special interest in capturing Bermuda's wide variety of stunning flowers. I am also experimenting with macro photography. This submission combines these two interests of mine, and showcases another beautiful aspect of Bermuda's nature.

I’m selecting this photo as buildings because this photo to me resonated these words to mind eyeful, enchanted, and pulchritudinous. My mom and I also found this picture more appealing then the rest so, I am submitted this moment to share with Bermuda.
When you go to Glass Beach you see thousands of pieces of glass and at first I took photos of the whole beach but then I looked closer and saw that every piece is unique and wanted to capture that. It reminds me of how each one of us is different and unique and we are all a part of Bermuda. I think it shows a side of Bermuda's natural beauty that you don't see every day.
I decided to take a photo of my Nana b/c I see a lot of older black women wearing church hats on Sundays and I think it’s cool. They have some very unique styled hats and some very bright colors. This is such a beautiful tradition and I hope to see more old ladies in their Sunday best!
This bunch of bananas is my 92 year old Nana’s most cherished tree. It hadn’t bared fruit in over 10 years. This is my 1st time seeing bananas on the tree. This tree shows me to never give up on something that you value.

The building in the picture is Paget primary. Paget primary is a dear place to me because of its teachers and staff. I want to this school for all 6 years that it offered. That this school I was taught to always respect others and myself. To follow rules and to safe. In P6 l had become a prefect. My duty was to keep younger kids safe and to be a good role model. I wish I can walk the empty halls again.

The sun shining through a broken part of the door is like saying there is hope even in the most difficult times. We went walking around Victualling Yard in Dockyard to admire its history and architecture, when I noticed that the light of the setting sun was about to align in one of the broken doors. Using my mom’s phone, I tried several angles and positions until I captured the perfect photo!

This photo is a tribute to our UNSUNG HEROES. I saw them putting our household waste in the garbage truck. It is a thankless, hard and often times dangerous job. They show up to work everyday, even in extreme weather conditions. I don't know of anyone who wants to do this line of work. We appreciate and thank you for all that you do for our community, Bermuda's UNSUNG HEROES!
