Where Does Your Story Begin? Explore Tracing Our Roots / Routes
As we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the closure of Royal Naval Dockyard at Bermuda, we invite you to share your stories and photographs.
The Dockyard served as a critical western North Atlantic base for the British Royal Navy from the early 1800s until its closure in 1950. Locally, the Dockyard had a significant impact: the massive industrial facility dominated the west-end landscape, and its construction and operation brought employment, education and business opportunities for Bermudians—as well as personal ties forged via the workplace, sports, friendship and family connections.
Dockyard has shaped countless lives. Whether you were a naval or military employee, civilian worker, apprentice, student at Dockyard school, or a family member of someone who trained, worked, or lived in Dockyard, your experiences can help us better understand the people who defined Dockyard.
Share your memories and photos to celebrate the lives and legacies entwined with Bermuda’s western tip and help us preserve Dockyard’s history, one story at a time.
