This is a photo of a Bermuda Monarch caterpillar crawling around the stem of a tropical milkweed plant. Bermuda Monarchs weren’t always here as they began to surface around their migration season to the South and stuck around. I chose this photo because although the Bermuda Monarch is not endemic to Bermuda they are still a huge part of the Bermudian ecosystem and they are truly beautiful. Milkweed can be found all around the island due to the work of many people such as my mother. However, in recent years bushes have grown and grass has been cut so please plant some milkweed!
