The education system in Bermuda can be difficult to maintain, but the hope is in our students. This is a picture I took before tutorials started for GCSE's. Many students showed up so they can be prepared and ready for their exams. There are many flaws with the schools, but the students are everything.

"''Bermuda Did Not Forget'' is my title for this photograph. My family remembers every 11th of the 11th each year. My father marches to honor not only his past generations but all who served. To take this photo, I used a step ladder to shoot over the heads of the crowd."

"This photograph represents Bermuda Life because it represents what some people do for a living and recreation. Also it represents Bermuda's past time. While enjoying Portuguese Day, I came across two gentlemen enjoying themselves fishing early in the morning. I choose this photograph for Bermuda life because I enjoy fishing with my dad. So when I saw them, it reminded me when I spend time with dad fishing, especially when we catch fish."

"I chose this photo because Cupmatch is a big part of Bermuda's culture. Though it only happens once a year; I think it represents Bermuda life well as it's a time a lot of people look forward to each year. Somerset may not be the team i'm for, but they play well and I felt this was a good shot. If anyone got anything from it, I think it would be that; like the man in my photo, we should put our best foot forward or step up to the challenge."

Runner-Up

Genevieve Lau
High School (15-18), BHS

I chose this photo because I believe it captures Bermuda life. A typical chill day at the beach relaxing on my towel and in the water. My favourite part of the photo is the little rainbow which, makes me smile and feel the Bermud-iful atmosphere.

I chose this photo because a it means the world to me. The story behind this photo really makes me proud of my work as a young photographer. After a long period of struggle for me trying to improve my work, I started look at other people’s photos to only find a pattern. Every time I saw something I liked I would get angry that I didn’t take that. Then I started looking down a more realistic and optimistic path. I realized the reason I couldn’t take those photos was because I didn’t have the opportunity. I had never seen a bluebird before and my friends were aching me to go out and take a photo. I sat at that bird box for over an hour waiting for the perfect moment. After I took this photo, I started shooting daily. This is the photo that took my hobby out of this world. It’s what shaped who I am today.
